The Hotter Plotter
My team and I designed and built this CNC Pyrogrophy for our Mechanical Product Design course. I was primarily responsible for the CAD design (SolidWorks), code development (MATLAB), and assisted with the Frame build.
The Project
The Hotter Plotter is a 2 axis CNC pyrography machine.
Upload any simple image to the MATLAB script and export the G-code to the Makerbase V1.6 via Repetier-Host. The hotter plotter will then burn a pointillist version the image on the wooden slab!
The hot wire tool has a thin nichrome end and is insulated with silicone within a 3D printed structure. This is attached to a solenoid that raises and lowers the hot end.
Can be adjusted for use with wood 3mm to 6mm thick.
